Good Afternoon Bret Harte Family!

As you may have heard, all CPS schools have been cancelled through April 20th. I realize many of you are concerned about how this time away will impact your child's growth. We are working to ensure all of our students are provided with the resources to continue their learning at home. Currently, the student e-learning sites are listed on ClassDojo and on our website at www.harte.cps.edu. If you need login information or technology support, please contact Mr. Bright (cabright1@cps.edu) or Mrs. Fido (mmfido1@cps.edu). Additionally, I want to be sure you are aware of the free internet access opportunities from AT&T, Spectrum, and Comcast. ISBE has listed these opportunities at www.isbe.net/keeplearning.

Please note that our district video-conferencing platform, Google Meet, is disabled for student use in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policies. CPS is currently pursuing a live streaming option that would be aligned with our policies to ensure student safety. We will reach out to you with additional information once this live streaming tool becomes available.

It is important that we take care of each other during these times. Please stay well and practice social distancing.

Sincerely,

Charlie Bright, Principal

Principal's Message

I am excited about some of the opportunities that will be provided for the students. One of the goals for this year is to maximize the website in order to ensure that parents, teachers, students and the community at large are aware of the events that we have to offer. We are committed to providing students with a rich educational experience at Bret Harte School. The vision for our students is that they will become lifelong readers and writers, problem-solvers, and theory-builders through an emphasis on literacy, mathematics, and science.

Parents are always welcome at Bret Harte School. There are many ways to contribute to your child's success by volunteering at the school. Attending Local School Council (L.S.C.) and Parent Advisory Council (P.A.C.) meetings, actively participating with parent or school sponsored events, serving as a chaperone for a field trip are excellent ways to become more involved. This school year, we will offer additional workshops and parent nights in order to create a connection between home and school by assisting parents with strategies that work with their children. Throughout the year, you will receive monthly newsletters, automated phone messages as reminders regarding upcoming events.

Building relationships amongst the administration, parents, teachers, students and the community is vital to the success of our school. Thank you for being a part of the Bret Harte Family. I look forward to working with you and your children this school year.
